Why Vision Boards Don't Work (and why they do.) Feb 13, 2024

Last night, when I was supposed to be doing my taxes, I found one of my favorite movies on Netflix - Something’s Gotta Give with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson.

In it, Diane Keaton is a Broadway playwright with a fabulous house in the Hamptons. She’s successful, middle-aged, and divorced. Jack Nicholson is dating her 30-year old daughter.

A classic Nancy Meyers set up - very 2013.

You probably think you know why a midlife coach like me loves this film: The gender politics, the satisfying second-half career, the midlife malaise?

Is This It? Dec 22, 2023

For a while now, I've sensed something shifting. I mean obviously, the planet is shifting, careening even, but I mean internally, for me and us in this little community. 

Midlife is often marked by a yearning for something undefined. Know what I mean? It sounds like "I just know there has to be more than this." Is this all there is?

The honest answer is maybe. It's up to you.
